THE CHOICE OF MATERIAL:
The leather
We only use vegetable tanned cowhide leather. This method of transforming raw hide into finished leather is the oldest of mankind and consists of immersing the hides in baths composed of vegetable substances.
The use of this type of tanning is very long: It lasts from twelve to eighteen months and makes it possible to obtain great firmness, even rigidity. Preciously maintained and transmitted, this process makes it possible to obtain a firm and soft touch, with a unique patina.
Our wish is to divert its usual use reserved for leather goods, luxury shoes and saddlery.
This old process which continues and seduces lovers of authenticity and eco-design is at the heart of our work. Its physical and aesthetic characteristics give it a real uniqueness while opening up many opportunities for it.
Reasoned production
Our primary mission is to design, create and develop beautiful pieces with a material normally reserved for leather goods or saddlery. The realization of the latter requires a lot of time and we have neither the production capacities nor the desire to revolutionize world trade. Our production is fair, sustainable and economically viable. We renew the collections twice a year and work on a range of a maximum of 10 products per season.
Ecological loan as neutral as possible
Vegetable tanned leather remains the most ecological alternative because it is non-toxic, 100% biodegradable and uses natural vegetable substances such as bark, fruit or plant shells. The leather we use comes from cattle originating in France and Italy, respecting European regulations and raised in the best possible conditions.
The use of this leather echoes our ecological concerns.
We keep our offcuts to a minimum and try to make our production as waste-free as possible. We are also promoting a real return to the short circuit by working with local suppliers and artisans. We do not want our pieces to circle the earth three times before being worn.
Sustainability
Ichor is at the antipodes of overconsumption, we support a sustainable manufacturing process with the use of a high quality raw material that acquires a patina over time. Our goal is that our parts accompany their owner over time/throughout their life/years, until the next generation…Our parts are manufactured according to the rules of the art, are designed to be almost indestructible. They are not immune, however, to damage due to time or negligence on the part of their owner.
In order to be faithful to our values, we offer a repair service to our customers in order to restore their parts and give them a second, third... life.
